I have been drawing for the past 8 months and I'm making this thread to show you my most recent ones (past 5 months) although I have been drawing for awhile I haven't improved much and on top of that I have only just begun creating my own drawing instead of fan art. Please tell me what you see wrong with them (the ones closet to the top are gonna have alot of things wrong with them) xD...oh and I would also like to let you know that I draw like 2-3 pictures a month sometimes just 1 I would love to draw more often

a few things I forgot to mention: i had reference pictures for all of them (except the last one), all of them are naruto inless I say otherwise, and I didn't trace any

If they are posted in the same order you drew them in then you've already improved. A good way to improve is to draw a copy of someone else's work and an originial drawing every day. Also, the tutorials on mangatutorials.com is really good when you begin to draw stuff on your own, I started with them about 5 (!) years ago and they got me a good deal of the way to the point where I am today.
Keep it up, make those two drawings a day and I'll buy you a drink when you're of legal drinking age and a full fledged artist

I try to draw as often as I can but Im not in the mood to draw alot, most of the time I do drawings in like a week. It's a very bad habit I have and I definetly need to break it. Oh and about that drink I'll take a pack of Arizona tea

Draw something without looking at something. You're art is pretty damn clean considering you put these up with a camera and not with a scanner.

Cellphone camera actually; I try to draw without looking at something but all I can draw is something ugly D:...although I have a few ideas for some drawings that I may draw And post up. Your art is really good, I saw yours earlier today

I'm not done yet but I thought I would post it up now, I have already seen one problem with it, his body is too big for the frog. Anyways I'm gonna draw some original stuff after I finish this today

I actually encourage you to stop fan art, and looking at refs at the pictures of Naruto and what not.

I mean, you CAN gain some knowledge from copying, but other then that you're not improving all THAT much.
The first post in this thread I saw a BUNCH of Naruto Fan pics. Now, when I scrolled down to the bottom to the last picture and there was a huge talent difference. You should go to "Posemaniac.com" to look at refs of the human body. And also when ever you need help or need to know how a certain part of the body works, just google image it.

I do this occasionally, and ask for comments and crits all the time in my art thread.
in my personal opinion, I think you should start drawing by yourself, and no more fan art for the time being, or until you gain a good understanding of the human anatomy.

what do you mean a huge talent difference? i just want to finish this last fan art and then im going to look at refs and draw my own stuff. Ive wanted to start drawing for awhile but just finally got around to it.

To put it a way...
Im saying that when you use refs, your talent in art is better then when you dont. :l
And that last piece was not as good as the first couple of fan arts,
and you did the last piece by yourself.

I know, I should've been drawing my own stuff awhile back but I didn't and it can't be changed so now I'm starting late but that's okay because i will catch up if I work hard enough thank you for the tip

Okay I'm starting to draw figures an on the website I'm using it says too start off with stick figures for the base and then add other stuff so here's what the website had me draw

wow, I'm impressed, you have a great start. I started off doing loads of fanart from reference for like 3 years and then I moved on to my own stuff and my fanart never looked that good. ^^

Always take the picture at 90º from the image.
