Here's to show what Obitual Crow is talking about.

Image
The Red line area indicates the level of the facial features in a somewhat half ass wire frame form...thingy...

A) - The chick that in on "THE DARK SIDE". Technically, this area is not block by the nose, So usually, light bounces of this region. Since its an scene, Light are distributed across the surrounding, but more where the sun is. So usually, there will be areas that are lighter on "THE DARK SIDE"

B) - This area is block out by the projection of the nose. The concentrated light coming from the sun, gives absolutely no light to this region, thus most lighting are coming from the surrounding. So its not completely dark, but its where the shadow are heavies.

c) - Like Obitual Crow said, these area are smooth, so the shadows are somewhat of a gradient.

Hope that helps ^^

Hey, thanks alot mate (and obitual crow ofc)
that would help me alot in the longer run!

Its really good feedback to explain it as you just did. :D

hmm, but when i think about it, i think we should have alot more shading, remember the sun is in a big angle behind her, its not really like she will get any shine on the face afterall.

Hello again, its about 3 weeks ago since i last posted here, and im back with a new creation after alot of practice.

First of all, i would like to thank all in this thread, who have contributed with alot of constructive critique or otherwise, feedback.

After I've seen all the posts around i realised that shading and such would have to wait, so i've cancelled the wallpaper progress for a while.

Anyways. the new creation is a fanart based mangastyle picture of the game: World of warcraft.

A simple drawing based on a cute little Blood elf Death knight wielding the blade before known as Frostmourne.

Image

This was a result after some anatomy practice while i allready added some textures of the armor, and the blade itself.
I would appreciate any contructive replies to this.

i guess i will be finishing this sometime after i've checked out this new patch :)

Far away arm is all wrong. It looks like it coming out of the top of her shoulder and going down instead of the side.

I concur. It's not a bad idea to reference anime/manga images, because it helps give you a better idea on how to draw certain poses/perspectives in that style.(it helped me a lot when I was younger and starting to draw more towards that style.) But it is also good to reference from real life too, and combine what you learn from the two. But it all depends on what works best for the artist themselves. We all learn differently.

But anyways!

I can tell you'll be wonderful with lineart one day; your style is quite apparent too. For the latest image:

Quick redline.
The main thing is that the arms are really long so that they can hold the sword. It may be better to reposition the sword position leaning more towards her or move it closer.

Much better arm... Though why a Pally is wearing so little armor, I'll never know xD

@AfroBit:
Thanks for the redline image.

I might need a little more curve, and i've noticed that the right arm is abit "thin" aswell as short.

While i like how people throw in some nice tips and such, im not sure i like this sentence, i acturally just draw just for the sake of drawing, i just enjoy the moment :) I believe that i'll get better someday by just drawing what spring to mind and then learn from my own drawings.

To be honest, i've spoken with alot of artists both on youtube and some less professional ones, and everyone had a different way of learning their style.
I dont think there is any basic or special way to learn how to draw in perticular.

@Bacon Barbarian:
haha yeah, well first of all, its not a paladin, it's a death knight.

but death knights and paladins uses the same kind of heavy armor.
But death knights are initiates, recruits in their early stage. a simple necromancer who then learns to use a runeblade. necromancers does only wear robes and magical clothings.

@alienninja:
haha yeah i can't help it :) world of warcraft is just an interrest as everyone have an interrest. and if i can draw, it should certainly be something im interrested in, it becomes much more exiting that way.

i don't really care if people disgust world of warcraft, if they dont like it, its fine with me :) i'm not a fanboy.
