@Seefy - I WILL do your request. I just can't find an awesomeful enough concept yet. That guy on the bottom's Boriol. (Episode 3 stars him.)

@Josh - We should appeal to Rio to rollback the forum, or at least link to this one on the new site.

@Jai - I'll probably do a manga of it, but for now it's a story in the Creator's Corner and on DA.

@Renzo - Part 2 is. Part 2 of episode 1. So's episode 2. (I changed the "part" things to "episodes.")

Kay. Here's a new pic I did in 45 minutes during art class. A self-styled impressionist that I started with no idea what I was doing. I kinda finished that way too.

Yay, Boriol! Can't wait for episode three. :D

And hey, that's neat. I never quite thought of doing Impressionism in pencil. You pulled it off well!

I never got around to saying this, but your new avatar is awesome. Was that part of DeDraMo?

*Ep. 3's up now*

Kay, so now I need help. Again (imagine that). How can I reproduce that style? I tried earlier today (wootwoot, snow day) and failed miserably. Three times.

Oh, Matt. <33 I WISH. It's actually a painting from my favorite artist (this pedestal is most likely shared by Lauren K. Cannon, though), Bao Pham. He goes by ThienBao on DA. His work is just so magical-looking, no matter what style or subject he utilizes.

As for you, good sir, I don't really know about what kind of advice to give you. What about this new style do you like so much? Maybe we can start there. I think it looks good, though. :)

Probably the fact that she's prettier than my usual. That drawing I did of Lauren awhile back was the same way. What about those faces are different than my usual that makes them so much cuter?

It's like they look so innocent (Lauren and Hayley--you might have to do some digging to find that one of Lauren again, or wait till I post the link up when I have high-speed), but with a touch of sexiness at the same time. That's probably the uncombed hair, though. What I really want is that innocent look.

*Facepalms for sounding like a pedophile*

What could possibly be worse than sounding like a pedophile AND a sadist? I swear, I'm not either of the two.

What makes people in art look cuter are rounder facial structures, large eyes, and large craniums. To make someone prettier than cute, try making the eyes a little smaller (not by a whole bunch in your case) and make the lines around the eyes dark to suggest thick lashes. Voluminous hair, like you said, and longer faces help, too. Compare moe to bishoujo.

I can draw pretty, but not cute. It's probably the fact that all but one of my active female characters are absolute butches, so my style has evolved around that to make my females fairly androgynous a lot of times. D:! So I can't help you with cute, hahaha. XD

You inadvertently DID help me with "cute" though. Rounder faces, large eyes, large craniums. It's the kinda stuff I knew, but didn't remember till I was reminded.

My goal is somewhere between moe and bishojo, like what Tony, Yabuki, and Babu all do (though Tony's a lot closer to bishojo). For guy characters, I'll just go with bishonen. Seems I can do that better than bishojo, ironically.

I think your stiff largely parallels Yabuki, but maybe you should draw mire from Taka's style to make things pretty.

After work, I'll sketch the best pictures from one of Tony's art books (aka. every last one) and see where that takes me.

INCOMING FINISHED REQUEST.
The lineart, which I personally think looks a little better. Feel free to color it.

Yeah, Nyu seemed like the kinda girl who'd have a beanbag. So I gave her one.

I CONFESS TO THE OVERUSE OF GRADIENTS, THE SMUDGE TOOL, AND BLENDING OPTIONS.

That guy's neck is sexy. I keep making creeper comments about necks on this forum, but I don't care. Necks are important to me. XD I think that sketch is one of your strongest. I'd suggest making the legs bigger to make the foreshortening look more realistic. I like how the top half came out. One thing, though: Your seem to rely heavily on line. Even your shading is full of lines. Try shading in circular motions for some parts. It'll give different textures to your figures/backgrounds other than "horizontally stroked line."

@Ceti - So all that every-day practice is starting to bear fruit! *fistpump*

@BB - Probably around the time I learned how to lock layer transparency and use gradients. I still have absolutely NO skill compared to some of my favorite DA artists.

@Seefy - I know, that's something I really gotta work on. I started drawing almost 3 years ago relying totally on lines and trying to force myself into the manga style. I'm slowly breaking away, though.

@Sparky - Number 1 was decent, I guess, but it wasn't what I was going for on that one. I wish I would be satisfied with just that, as it's a lot harder to draw pure moe-style.

@Miku - Credit's gotta go to you for making such an adorable character.

Iris does look a little young, but I can fix that later.
