Sausage hands are really ugly on girl characters.

I think this is actually further away from moe. The eyes and some body lines are quite angular, where moe would focus on a softness. Moe also tend to have very realistically-inspired hair; here you kind of have a classic 80's anime vibe.

well the head on the second one is really small, the body is just fine, hands need some work

first one, the head is good with the body, but the legs seem off
and you got some really weird hair-eye combinations going on there lol

Hm. I just want my characters to be cute, and I thought that did it. If there's a way that looks better, I'll definitely take it. That's a matter of practice and style, isn't it?

I found the more solid hair a lot easier than doing it realistically. I'm not quite sure which looks better at this point though. If I were to write a manga now, then I'd take the above style because the characters look decent and the lines are simple. If I had a few more years of practice, it'd certainly look different, with more complex hair and such.

I thought her head was a little small. I drew her hand first, head last, so that's probably the reason. Well, hello, Photoshop!

And the hands are gonna be giving me trouble for some time to come. At least it's better than sausage fingers, right?

Aside from that, how'd I do on the flow of the pose or whatever?

Whoa, okay, I just did a huge double post. Didn't realize I pushed "quote" instead of "edit."

I said moe. But it's not moe in reality. I just thought it was at first. All I can do now is just follow my signature.

By the way, Dan Wells is the guy who said it. The thing under this line.

[Create the art you want to create, then make it better so that everyone likes it.]
Forgot I didn't have a siggy anymore.

Good job, actually. It's good that you're brave enough to tackle poses and movement in your pictures. While I can't say your basics are solid yet, actually having the guts to draw the things you want to draw out, regardless of how the end product turns out, is a great attitude.

Just keep in mind that you'll need to run down the basics, starting from anatomy. Preferably REAL anatomy.

It's always better to understand how the real thing works before stylizing it.

Keep it up!

Mou~. I feel like I haven't made as much progress as I thought before. All right, anatomy, anatomy . . . hello, Andrew Loomis. Hello, skipping school for the purpose of art--oh crap, you SO did not just hear that! I bet my teachers are spying on me through this forum.

I heart Dan. Actually, I heart all of them.

I think the flow of the girl on the right is really good, besides her left arm, which seems really stiff.

I agree with celestial the slight body twist of the girl on the right makes her far more natural and fluid, rather than just standing straight. And little things like her left shoulder being raise slightly higher help alot.

However is it just me or does the same girls head seem a little small?

It's not just you. I noticed it too, but that was the first time I've ever drawn something other than the head first. So I'm glad it turned out even that good.

I almost always draw the head first. Sometimes I start at the waist instead, though.

I ALWAYS start with the shoulders.. I don't know why.. i guess it's from combat training, I can tell which way some one is going to swing or move by the shoulders..

Ego, I know what you mean. During the time I took martial arts I really paid attention to shoulder and leg position when I was drawing. But then I ran outta money. ^_^

And Seefy, I usually start with the head too. That was a first.

All right, after this post I'm not gonna post again unless I have a picture to post with the words. I talk too much and don't draw enough.
