No idea whats up with Michael Myers, but the painting looks really cool. I really like how you did the hair.

Hmm, what program are you using? You've got the colours nicely blended.

TheWarden: Thanks, the hair and eyes are always the fun part. The skin, eh not so much. But since it's my first digital painting, don't hesitate to give me any crits you might have.

Gaff: Thanks. Sadly I use Photoshop Elements 6. I have nothing better than that. As for the blending, I used an airbrush and the smudge tool, but mostly the airbrush. The tutorial said to smudge, but I didn't like using it except for on the outlines.

Still poorly attempting to draw abs and muscles, and still not using refs (gosh >_>).

Pure fanservice for my brain, hurr.

That's pretty good for not using refs. My anatomy gets all weird half of the time when I draw with no refs xD

You could use some more guidelines, though. Can you do hands and feet?

Egoslip: Yeah, the forearm...I tried to make it slightly foreshortened, but it doesn't look like it... :?

TribalPunk: Haha, drawing without refs is a bad habit of mine. But when I look at stuff, I usually make a mental note in my head like "Oh, I see. The muscles go right there." And I remember it. For example, I used to draw moobs until I realized that they were too low, lol. XD

Son44: Mind if I know what details?

Sottaceti: What kind of guidelines do you mean? Can you do a redline to show me? And no, I can't draw hands and feet very well; especially the feet. I'd need help on those.

Well, guidelines are basically like first drawing heads to measure up the body, then drawing a stick figure, then drawing simple shapes, then drawing the figure, then drawing precise muscle details following the guidelines. The dude's ribs a re just a liiiiittle bit off centre, but no biggie.

Oh yeah, what was I thinking? What other guidelines can there possibly be? Well, I do the stick figure setup, but not the proportions which I probably should. A lot of my figures become too monstrously stretched out, haha. And as for the muscles.. I honestly have no idea how to draw them. I'm just copying them from memory.

I'd like some advice on how to shade muscles, please. They're terrible. :> Oh, and I also changed the hand/arm so it looks less awkward.

I like the texture, it really adds to the picture.

I'm not too familiar to the structures of muscle but if I'm unsure how to shade them, I often look up pictures to get a sense to how they're drawn/shaded.
