Hey everyone! Just a quick word of thanks for stopping by. I love advice and tips from everyone, so please don't hold back on the info!

Yes, I do draw (some of you seeing me lingering around on the forums might have wondered), but I'm still waiting to start any creative work of my own. Currently I'm functioning only as a copyist and avid anatomy lesson student. I'm trying to saturate myself with anime and manga by copying artbooks and such, and hopefully I'll be able to branch out pretty soon with no (or minimal) reference aid.

An example of my studies; Isaac Dian and Miria Harvey. (copied from the Baccano! sketchbook by Brain's Base)
Some decent and not-so-hot stuff included in here. :P

Image
Argh, Miria #1 and #3 really made me cringe. Still getting used to the feel of things.

I do have other stuff, but I've only recently started a sketchbook. I may or may not dig up other papers such as my two dozen or so bone& muscle sketches if I haven't lost them already. (lol)

Seems you need some work on hands and bodies. Other than that, it's all really good.

I've seen you around for awhile--you always had really good advice.

I never imagined you'd be this good. Well, okay, maybe I did. Those are some awesome sketches. Miria is pretty.

Hey all, thanks for all the comments and for stopping by.

@ ozzaharwood : Lol, thanks! I can't help you with original stuff yet but I'll share what I know if you want. xD
@ Sottacetti : Oh, true that. I'll start practicing.
@ Error 404 : NO WAY! Really? I'm glad I got to motivate someone with my art, heh.
@ jaidurn : Wow, thanks. Actually it's because I'm loading the stuff I think looks good - what I don't like you'll never get to see ... >_>
@ TribalPunk : Gee, thanks.
@ Matt : Thanks for the compliments; hope I live up to what you're saying. xD
@ fabafidius : Wow, thanks. Now if only I could get to coloring CGs like you... ;)

***

Well, some more art to put up. This is what I've been up to lately.

Image

I still need to get bones and muscles down pat, but I'm trying to learn the concept of adding rhythm to my drawings with varied success. *Nods.*

And why Ruroni-Kenshinitis you ask? Well, I've noticed a lot of people drawing Ruroni Kenshin stuff and I think I caught that unexplainable urge to do the same today. Copied from some random pictures I found. I did rush through the Kenshin one since this started out not-so-seriously.

Image
BLARGH the date got in the way of the kimono!

Actually messed up extremely badly on Kaoru's hair as I discovered that *every* strand has to flow with about half of all the other ones. But it's black anyways so I shaded it in and blended it a bit. Heh heh heh... The World Shall NEVER Know!!

So yeah, comments and advice would be great. If anyone could give me advice on drawing long hair with minimal messings-up that'd be appreciated too. =)

Kaoru looks really nice. I can't help you with hair--I don't know how to do it myself--but Kenshin's head is small, I think. That aside, I really like that you do anatomy sketches and all that in your spare time--dynamic poses, head height--everything. It's people like you who become masters.

You don't have draws of faces looked from the bottom (from the bottom to up) and neither from up, with this you have less draws of complet subjects looked either from up or down.

Either way, what you have is good, but you should also try to do other stuffs.

@Matt: Haha, thanks. I actually need to practice more... about to the amount that you think I'm practicing. XD
@Error 404: Thanks for the advice; I will try my hand at that. Currently I'm doing anatomy lessons and such so I'm not into extreme angles yet, but I will be.
@Takeru: Thaaank you - still need to start drawing original ones, though. :P
@Seefy: Whoa. Zuppa? O.o ... Awesome... role model sighted...
Eh, I can tell when you're complimenting me on something you're better at than I am. XD
@Slurpee: Yay, style! I'm going for the modern anime style after I seriously need to brush up realism. V-shaped chins rather than U-shaped ones, what ho. Smaller eyes and flowing... everything, I guess. o.o

Yep. I'm drawing absolutely nothing except anatomy until I finish all these lessons by this art teacher guy at alienthink.com. One of the lessons I've been studying from:

Male Torso

... Because it has layers, donkeh!
* No erasers were harmed in the process of this study.
