So, I was checking out one of the indie game developer blogs I usually check and the guy was talking about the (usual) stupidity of female fantasy armor. It started out pretty much the same as usual – skimpy, bikini clothes not really great for combat fighting blah blah blah… and there were two links to an article. One of them really caught my interest which was called “Why do you hate the shape of breasts in plate armor so much?”
Now, it sounds like it’ll be the usual rehash of skimpy armor doesn’t make sense argument and all of that but it’s not. There’s actually a reason why females can’t wear armors that accentuate a females breasts: because you can die easily with the armors pressure resting on the sternum, the bone that connects your ribcage up front. With a blow right at that spot, it will fracture and go to your heart and lungs. Talk about deadly!
Now fantasy is called so for a reason and you can make any armor you like but if you’re looking to make a more realistic world, give the article a read. It’s rather interesting and quite eye opening.
