For the next several weeks, video tutorials focusing on realistic anatomy will be posted. You may be wondering why I am posting them as this is a site focusing on manga tutorials but there’s a good reason for it: learning the basics and realistic anatomy can only make you a better artist.
As it is said, you need to know the rules in order to break it. Likewise, you need to know anatomy in order to draw it realistically even in manga’s simplistic, caricature-like style.
With that said, if you’ve been following the video tutorials, there are a lot of digital painting videos in the realistic painterly style but you can take what is taught and use it in your own way whether the result is realistic or not. The best part to take away from them is the use of brushes, techniques, and how to use the graphic software to get the result you’re looking for.
If you haven’t checked out any of the video tutorials yet, give them a look over if you have time. If not the video tutorials, some of the time lapse or live painting videos are pretty fun to watch.
