Earlier this month, I attended a Natsumatsuri or Summer Festival at Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater, New Jersey. It’s a fun annual event held every August with games, food, taiko drumming and traditional Japanese dancing. And yes, there’s also a ton of people! Some dressed casually, some came in cosplay outfits, and others came dressed in happi’s; short straight-sleeved coats; and yukata’s.
Aside from me recommending everyone to go attend one if you’re ever in vicinity of a Mitsuwa Marketplace (even if there isn’t a festival going on!), I took a bunch of photos for you guys. Feel free to use them for reference! Please do not use them for commercial purposes but should you need to, please ask my permission first. By the way, that’s me wearing the mask and that drink – it’s just too awesome. Enjoy!
