Hello,
Now you’re here because maybe you’re in a good progress of an amazing story. This story is so packed full of great ideas. But all these ideas… are too much for one story. Then you begin to read it yourself, and then you realize: What’s the plot?! That is why you’re here. No…? Or you’re just stuck with writer’s block…
Anyway, enough with the crazy scenario. I will help you to create a plot against those evil writer’s block.
Oh and just a quick tip, it’s better to establish the plot very early on. Not when you’re half way though the story. I know… It’s from my own experiences.
Okay, to start a plot or storyline, is the main idea or theme of a story. That is the most simple breakdown of a plot. I’ll give you an example. The main character is trying to confess his love to a girl he has loved for years. For ideas, all you have to do is think of something interesting or something people can relate to. Maybe even your own life experiences.
To be different, think of something nobody else has thought of yet, like a fantasy (ex/ Final Fantasy). And there you can branch off into characters, settings, etc, with having the plot already. But, I’m not done yet.
To be detailed with the first two examples, like I said: Use something from your life. There are a whole bunch of written stories that is actually the author’s autobiography. If you do use this idea, keep in mind that little details can change a story’s feeling to funny or serious. Choose the one that you want to give to the reader.
Now, for that fantasy plot, you should be creative. Of course you should be creative. Because, fantasy is an escape from the real world. No, it doesn’t have to be like Star Wars or Final Fantasy. In fact, the internet is a way to escape to fantasy. On the internet, you can just as easily fake who you are or be as real as you can.
Going, back to the fantasy topic be creative. You could even create new technology. The technology can be based off of something already exiting or something original. Be creative, that’s what fantasy is.
Here’s an idea for another plot. You can very much have life experiences cross over with fantasy. I’ve seen it before (ex/ Digimon). So why not you try it out too. Writing like this can be fun, of course be creative with both the real life and fantasy world.
Lastly, find your own way to create a plot, storyline, etc. You don’t need to follow what I have to write about making a plot. This is just a guide for people stuck on making one. And I do hope I helped in anyway shape or form. There’s nothing limiting your ideas, but only you limiting your ideas.
