It’s official! Kodansha USA has done what lots of fangirls and fanboys have been asking for years on end – Sailor Moon is coming out in English! Now, there isn’t any news of the anime but it’s a big step with the manga, regardless.
Kodansha is actually throwing fans a lot of bonuses with each volume. Check this out:
-Deluxe volumes will become available starting September 2011
-Manga will be re-translated, art will be re-touched, and volumes will have all new art covers
-Each volume will also have “detailed translation notes and ‘extensive bonus material’ from author, Naoko Takeuchi” according to Siliconera.
-Volumes will be condensed and 2-volume short stories will be added into the series.
-Codename: Sailor V, the prequel to Sailor Moon, will also be published for the first time in English
Sailor Moon was originally brought out in English by Mixx (now Tokyopop) but has been out of print for years. Translations of the main character’s name include Bunny in the manga and Serena in the anime. Personally, I hope to see the original Japanese names being used.
