Quite unlike the rant of the Black Butler manga-ka, Yana Toboso, in response to illegal downloads, several other mangaka’s had a little fun with their response to this problem. To quote from ANN,
Rei Hiroe, the manga creator best known for Black Lagoon, wrote in his Twitter account on Saturday about discovering that someone “smugly” posted all of his manga in a compressed ZIP file. He then, apparently tongue-in-cheek, said that he wishes that this person would contract pancreatic cancer or something similar.
Upon reading this, a fellow manga creator named Kazuki Kotobuki replied that he wished that the unauthorized uploader would step outside and get struck by lightning, hit by a meteorite, or some other “constructive” form of death.
Hellsing manga creator Kouta Hirano then chipped in by writing that the uploader should contract a bizarre, previously unknown disease — therefore, the disease would be named after the uploader in medical journals, and that would be how the uploader would be remembered for posterity.
What would be truly ironic is if all of these did happen to said illegal uploader! Too bad there really isn’t a Death Note… But maybe Ohba and Obata, the guys behind Death Note, can get into it as well by depicting some random illegal uploader “fan” being named and killed through the Death Note.
