As a response to the quest for providing digital manga to consumers, Digital Manga Publishing (DMP) has created the site eManga. The system is based on a rental system where you can read an entire title by using eManga points for a limited amount of time which is currently 72 hours. Should you decide to rent the title again, that series will automatically be upgraded to an unlimited status which will allow you to view it at any time for however long as you wish.
Points-wise, $10 USD is equivalent to 1,000 eManga points. Each series has a free preview so members may decide to check it out before using their points. Points for titles range from 200 to 400 points. Most of the titles are either bishoujo or yaoi but other genre’s are slowly being added such as Speed Racer. Novels are also available though limited in selection but what I think is the best part to eManga is that they are accepting submissions.
That’s right! Aspiring manga-ka’s may submit their work to eManga by shooting them an email or sending submission via snail mail. If you want to start selling your manga, drop them a line. Good luck and let me know if you get accepted!
Whether this service is a solution to scan aggregrators is still too early to tell but it’s a good start and who knows, maybe with some customer feedback, it may become the next Steam, a popular digital downloading service for millions of video gamers.
