I think this is the coolest news ever: a place to hang out, learn how to draw manga or make your own, and have some eats while you’re at it. This new manga cafe called Manga Kūkan (“manga space”) with a twist opened this past May at Nagoya City in central Japan. Unlike other manga cafe’s, this one is catered to the aspiring manga artists out there with access to tons of manga volumes, training lectures from professionals, and plenty of manga equipment from pen nibs, tones, copic markers, manga paper, and more.
Looking at photos at their website, Manga Kūkan looks more like a small studio than a maid cafe but I guess the main attraction is making manga than eating and being served by maids. The prices are also reasonable with use of a space starting at 480 yen (about US$5.60) for the first hour and goes up in price up to a 6-hour use. If you’re ever in the Nagoya area, and get a hankering for making some manga, be sure to drop by. It looks like a pretty nice place to get your creativity flowing.
