Tankobon are those phone-book-sized manga magazines printed out on a regular basis at Japan and this December, they will be getting a digital version with the release of a new tankoban called Dengeki Comic Japan. Dengeki Comic Japan is being launched by ASCII Media Works (the Japanese publisher of Yotsuba&!, Those Who Hunt Elves, and Gunslinger Girl) and will specifically by for the iPad and iPhone devices.
Each issue will cost 500 yen (around $6 USD) with the first 120-page pilot edition free to all this fall. Issues will eventually be made available for the PC but for now, it will be locked to Apple’s popular gadgets.
