Comicloud, a manga magazine, was simultaneously released in both English and Japanese for the Amazon Kindle. It features works from various artists including some who have never had their work officially in English before. The magazine is priced at $4.99USD with 159 pages of manga goodness.
Someone actually left a review for the magazine which warned of the low resolution. To quote the reviewer, “It only takes up half my screen, and if you zoom in, the artifacts are clearly visible and you can no longer turn the pages. You need to close the zoom and then you can turn pages again. Just awful. The art is quite good, and 480×640 or whatever it’s encoded as is just criminal in 2010.”
A rather dismal review but it’s interesting to see a digital magazine release directly into English without import fees and other setbacks. Hopefully, the quality improves over time. To read the original article, go to ANN, and for the product at Amazon, go here.
