It seems like more and more companies are going directly to digital release from Japan to English speaking countries and next month, Itochu Corporation will do just that! Itochu will be releasing thirty works from Shotaro Ishinomori, creator of Kamen Rider and Cyborg 09, on the iPhone to American and Canadian audiences. The first chapter will be free with each additional chapters costing $1.00 USD each. Itochu won’t stop with releasing just Ishinomori’s work but will also add Harlequin Comic titles adding up to an ambitious total of 100 manga titles by next spring.
Harlequin Comics are mainly shoujo manga’s with audience targets from young teens to adult women. Titles include No Competition, adapted from a novel by Debbie Macomber with art by Yukino Hara, Jinxed, adapted from a novel by Day Leclaire with art by Akemi Maki, A Prince Needs a Princess, adapted from a novel by Barbara McMahon with art by Reiko Kishida, and Never Kiss a Stranger, adapted from a novel by Madeleine Ker with art by Mayu Kasumi.
