I’d like to start making my own anime but where do I start?
Answerman Answer in Short: You can start with just a a little time, paper and pen, GIMP, and Movie Maker – that’s it!
Rio’s Take: Just start small, stay focused, do the work, and follow through by finishing it. That’s it!
Any tips for a budding self-taught translator with no idea of where to go from here regarding breaking into the industry?
Answerman Answer in Short: Get your name out there by translating for websites that require your skills but being self-taught is worrying so I suggest you get yourself into a University that teaches Japanese.
Rio’s Take: If going to a University is too expensive for you, try considering teaching English in Japan through programs such as JET.
What are my hopes of becoming a Mangaka?
Answerman Answer in Short: Positively: You can do it! Negatively: Forget it! Neutrally: Why be a mangaka? Why not create your own style, comic, and vision?
Rio’s Take: As far as I’m concerned, if you draw manga, you are a manga-ka. Now, whether you make a lot of money out of it is another matter entirely…
