Danny Choo and couple of guys announced an anime on April Fools but that joke received so many positive responses that they decided to turn that joke into a reality. Plans have been underway since then and the anime is expected to come out sometime next year. You can read up on the complete interview at ANN but here’s a few interesting tidbits:
- Sales from DVD’s and Blu-Rays are nonexistent so making money on anime these days are on licensing
- Licensing examples include figurines, merchandise (shirts, posters, etc), and of course licensing for releases in other territories
- A small anime studio can produce an anime as long as they are dedicated and can outsource some areas like marketing (Choo is using services from Mirai Fusion for marketing, for instance)
