The reason? Inappropriate content.
The magazines, Megami Magazine, Megami Magazine Deluxe, Nyantype, Dengeki Hime and Dengeki Moeoh will no longer be available for purchase off the shelves of Japanese bookstore Books Kinokuniya. The company feels that some content may be misconstrued as being child pornography even though it is not considered so according to the Japanese publication ratings.
If you’ve ever picked up a bishoujo magazine, there are tame stories and then there are gratuitous stories with plenty of panty shots, fan service situations, and loli’s galore. The store hasn’t gotten any heat from selling these magazines in the past that I am aware of but there is a case in America about a manga fan being sued for buying “obscene” books so it’s not within the realm of possibility that Kinokuniya may be sued in the future.
These magazines are still being carried at Asahiya Books and Books Sanseido so you if you really need your bishoujo fix, you can hit up these stores instead or you may buy from the Japanese Amazon site or eBay. For the full article, drop by ANN.
